A
GUIDE TO SMEARS WITHOUT TEARS
NLSSG wishes to thank the London
Vulval Pain Support Group for their kind permission to publish the guide.

PDF format.)
A
recent article in The Times newspaper (UK January 2007) gives a warning that women
are not attending for cervical smears when invited to do so. Women feel that the
procedure is undignified and invasive and are prepared to risk their well being
rather than attend their appointment. NLSSG, the Vulval Health Awareness Campaign,
the Vulval Pain Society and the London Vulval Pain Support Group all work together
to help women with vulval disorders and would like to encourage you to have regular
smear tests. Any physical examination is frightening when you have lichen sclerosus,
lichen planus, vulvodynia or other vulval symptoms that are already uncomfortable.
Please read the guide. Consider going along when your appointment is due for a
cervical smear. You
may need to download Adobe Acrobat Reader to view this document. Free download
is available at http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/ For
more information about cervical cancer visit http://www.jotrust.co.uk/
This UK Charity informs that 3 women die every day in the UK from cervical
cancer. It
is reported that one woman dies every 18 minutes in Europe from cervical cancer.
