TEN TOP TIPS FOR COPING WITH LS
The tips below have been sent in by a patient

TEN TIPS THAT WORKED FOR ME.

1) For self-examination, which is so important, I have an angle-poise lamp and a mirror that magnifies strongly. I use this every time I apply any cream so I get a clear view of what I'm doing. Also when travelling it's a boon. I even fly with my portable bidet, a washing up bowl which I can sit in. If luggage is overweight you leave it behind!

2) When peeing is painful, doing it in water is a great help.

3) I hardly ever wear wear panties, but if I do they're boxers. Prefer bloomers to elasticated!

4) Safari style trousers or loose garments are great. Gipsy style skirts and similar, thank goodness they're fashionable at the moment.

5) I make sure I don't overheat at night and don't sleep in a position with my legs together, which tends to squash The Part. Sort of scissor position with the legs is good on the side or back.

6) I take photos and keep a gallery on the computer so they can be compared over a period of time to see if there's been any change

7) If sitting down is uncomfortable, a donut or inflatable cushion gives great relief. I use it in the car too.

8) In the really critical initial stages before treatment kicks in, icepacks wrapped in cotton helped to cool the part in bed at night so I could get to sleep.

9) When I'm out and about during the day if I get a sudden horrendous itch I carry a small pot of aqueous cream around to slap on and cool things down till I can do something more in-depth at home.

10) Telling friends about LS I also found therapeutic. Common sense tells you which ones can be told and where it would fall on stony ground. At least it justifies strange behaviour at times!!!!

Would you like to add?????
